Pride in Carnew sprung from the community and as the name suggests is made up of people with a sense of pride in their community, who want to show Carnew off as a great place to live and work. They are determined to ensure that Carnew helps itself and gets its fair share of State support. To-date this project has been a great success and has enjoyed fantastic support from the community and Wicklow County Council, The Area Engineer, County Wicklow Partnership and our local representatives.
Pride in Carnew is a self-funding community group set up in March 2012 in conjunction with Carnew Training and Development Centre. The committee entered the Tidy Towns for the first time since the 1990’s and although not a Tidy Town Committee, it is making steady progress as can be seen from the annual adjudication reports, which the Committee use to guide their work.
The Committee set up a weekly Lotto to fund our projects, and were delighted with the local reaction; it received instant community wide support and continues to generate invaluable funds to pursue ambitious projects. Some of these projects are long-term, but the Committee took a long-term view from the onset.
Carnew Training and Development Centre supports the Committee with administration, governance especially financial propriety and transparency.
Carnew Training and Development Centre is located at Woolgreen, Carnew. It provides a wide range of facilities including training and secretarial services for people living in south Wicklow and north Wexford.
