PRIDE IN CARNEW / CARNEW CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Pride in Carnew / Carnew Christmas Lights is a self-funding group established in 2012 in conjunction with Carnew Training and Consultancy. The committee regularly enters the Tidy Towns competition. Although the group is not a Tidy Towns Committee, members use the annual adjudication reports to guide their work and inform their long-term plans.

As the name suggests, the group brings together people who take pride in their town and want to showcase Carnew as a great place to live and work, with a strong emphasis on biodiversity. Volunteers meet regularly throughout the town to clean signage, plant and maintain flower boxes, cut grass, weed, collect litter and generally keep the Main Street and surrounding areas looking clean and attractive.

The group also manages the town’s Christmas lights. Through fundraising and funding secured from Wicklow County Council, the group has provided high-quality Christmas lighting features and motifs at prominent locations throughout the town, as well as managing and maintaining the Christmas trees.

Pride in Carnew / Carnew Lights works closely with other community groups that take responsibility for specific projects and residential areas throughout the town. The group also collaborates with organisations and partners including Wicklow County Council, the Area Engineer, County Wicklow Partnership, SuperValu Tidy Towns and local representatives.
