PRIDE IN CARNEW / CARNEW LIGHTS

Carnew SignPride in Carnew\Carnew Lights is a self-funding group set up in 2012 in conjunction with Carnew Training and Development Centre.  The committee regularly enters the Tidy Towns competition and although not a Tidy Town Committee, they use the annual adjudication reports to guide their work and develop long term plans.

As the name suggests it is made up of people with a sense of pride in their town, who want to show Carnew off as a great place to live and work with a strong emphasis on bio-diversity. Volunteers’ meet regularly in the town where they clean signage, plant flower boxes, cut grass, weed, litter pick and generally keep the Main Street and surrounding areas spruce!Centre Tree with lights

The group also look after the Christmas Lights in the town. Most recently, by fundraising and having obtained funding from Wicklow County Council, they were able to provide superior Christmas lighting features and motifs at prominent locations around the town, as well as looking after the Christmas trees.

They work in conjunction with other groups that may take on specific projects and look after residential areas of the town, as well as with organisations such as Wicklow County Council, The Area Engineer, County Wicklow Partnership, SuperValu Tidy Towns and our local representatives.
