MEWP
Course Description
Our MEWP course also includes Working at Heights.
This course, which is delivered and certified by an accredited RTITB (Road Transport Industry Training Board) Instructor provides appropriate training where personnel are involved in the operation of MEWP (Mobile Elevated Working Platform) machinery to the required level of competency in a safe and appropriate manner as prescribed in the health and safety legislation.
- Mobile Vertical machines, generally called Scissor Lifts (Category 3A).
- Mobile Boom machines, which are self-propelled booms and may be articulated or telescopic booms and can be driven at height (Category 3B).

- Introduction to machine
- Pre shift check of machine
- Safe operation of machine
- Hazards when using machine
- Safe Use of Ladders
- Openings/Edge Protection
- Roof Work/Fragile surfaces
Who Should Attend
- Any person involved in a workplace environment where Mobile Elevated Working Platforms are used in their working duties.
Assessment
- On-site practical assessment by Tutor during course
- In class written assessment by Tutor during course
Entry Requirements
Participants must:
- have a good understanding of both written and verbal English.
- be 16 years of age or older.
- bring photo ID with them.
- wear Safety Boots
- bring appropriate PPE (Tutor can provide these if necessary) – Helmet; Hi-Vis Vest; Harness & Adjustable Restraint Lanyard.
