BOOK KEEPING – MANUAL & COMPUTERISED
Course Description
This is a QQI level 5 Course which is suitable for anyone undertaking a qualification in book-keeping for home or work. Basic numeracy, literacy and computer skills a pre-requisite for this course. Thesaurus Accounts is the computerised book-keeping application software used for this course.
Course Content
- Key terminology associated with the recording and maintenance of book-keeping records
- Books of first entry with appropriate VAT and departmental analysis
- Posting of information from day-books to appropriate accounts in ledgers
- Extracting a trial balance at the end of an accounting period
- Preparing a Bank Reconciliation Statement from data supplied
- Preparing the end-of-period VAT Return
- Analysing tasks completed, making appropriate corrections to any errors and editing of data as directed
- Printing reports after backing up computerised data

- Anyone currently working in Accounts, looking to formalise their knowledge with a qualification
Assessment
- Formal written examination in-class by Tutor
- Formal computerised examination in-class by Tutor
Entry Requirements
Participants must:
- have a good understanding of both written and verbal English
- have an aptitude for and interest in working with numeracy and figures
- have a basic level of computer skills
- bring photo ID and their PPS number with them
